SGR Safari Escape: Mikumi National Park
Offered by - Go Extra Mile Safaris
Tour Features
Africa is richly endowed with natural attractions offering some of the world’s most sought-after travel experiences. Among these, Mikumi National Park stands out as one of Tanzania’s most accessible and rewarding safari destinations. Ideal for travelers with limited time, Mikumi offers confirmed wildlife sightings and remarkable biodiversity. A visit of two days or more provides ample opportunity to explore the park’s vast grasslands, home to large herds of elephants, lions, cheetahs, hippos, and other iconic species—set against a backdrop of majestic baobab trees and Amarula groves. With the advent of the modern Standard Gauge Railway (SGR), reaching Mikumi has never been easier. Departing from Dar es Salaam—the country’s bustling port city on the Indian Ocean—the electric SGR train takes just 90 minutes to reach Morogoro. From there, it’s a short 90-minute drive to the Mikumi National Park gate, making it a perfect quick escape into the wild.
