  • Day 1 - Saadani Wildlife Expedition
A Day trip to Saadani National Park offers a rare and unforgettable experience where safari meets the sea—the only place in East Africa where wildlife roams along an ocean coastline. Just 2.5 to 3 hours from Dar es Salaam by road, Saadani is an ideal quick escape into the wild for nature lovers and time-limited travelers. Early Start: Your journey begins with a pre-dawn pickup (around 5:00–6:00 AM) from your hotel in Dar es Salaam. You’ll drive north via Bagamoyo, passing through local villages and scenic countryside en route to the park. Morning Game Drive: Arriving at Saadani around 8:30–9:00 AM, you'll embark on a thrilling game drive. The park is home to elephants, giraffes, buffalo, warthogs, waterbuck, wildebeest, monkeys, and—if lucky—lions. The combination of savannah, acacia woodland, mangroves, and beach ecosystems makes wildlife viewing varied and exciting. Midday Break by the Beach: Around midday, enjoy a packed picnic lunch at a scenic spot near the Indian Ocean—a pristine, quiet beach where you may spot green turtles, birdlife, and even elephants strolling by the shore. Optional Boat Safari or More Game Viewing: In the afternoon, you can choose between a boat safari on the Wami River—spotting hippos, crocodiles, kingfishers, and flamingos—or continue with a guided walking safari or further game drive. Return to Dar es Salaam: By around 4:00–5:00 PM, begin the return trip, arriving back in the city between 7:00–9:00 PM, depending on road conditions and departure time.
