Every year, vast herds of herbivores migrate for about 800 kilometers in search of water and food.
The park is one of Africa’s most important protected areas and has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site for over forty years. Its ecosystem supports more than 1.5 million wildebeests, hundreds of thousands of zebras, gazelles, and impalas, along with over 2,700 lions, 1,000 leopards, 500 cheetahs, and large groups of elephants, giraffes, and ostriches.
