- Day 1 - Windhoek – Kalahari Desert
After breakfast, depart from Windhoek and drive southeast toward the Kalahari Desert, passing scenic savannah landscapes and small towns along the way. Enjoy stops for photography and to stretch your legs, taking in the wide-open spaces and striking desert scenery.
Arrive at your lodge in the late afternoon, where you can relax and enjoy the tranquil desert surroundings. Optional sunset activities include a guided walk or a scenic drive to experience the red dunes and unique flora and fauna of the Kalahari.

Wake up early and head into the Namib-Naukluft National Park to explore the iconic Sossusvlei dunes. Climb Dune 45 for panoramic views and witness the desert’s striking colors at sunrise. Many people prefer self-drive because of Namibia's excellent roads and safety. In most cases, your local tour operator will arrange airport pickup and all additional transportation as part of the tour.
