    Upon arrival at Kigali International Airport, meet your Legacy Heritage Tours & Travel representative and transfer to your hotel.

    Depending on your arrival time, proceed for a Kigali city tour, followed by a visit to the Kigali Genocide Memorial. Return to the hotel for relaxation and overnight.

  • Day 2 - KIGALI – NYANZA – NYUNGWE

    After breakfast, depart Kigali and drive south towards Nyanza Visit the King's Palace Museum, where you will discover Rwanda's royal history and see the traditional royal palace and long-horned Inyambo cattle.

    Continue towards Nyungwe with a lunch stop en route. Proceed through the scenic southern countryside to your accommodation near Nyungwe National Park. Check in, enjoy dinner and relax.

  • Day 3 - CHIMPANZEE TRACKING & CANOPY WALKWAY

    Begin the day early with a transfer to Nyungwe National Park for chimpanzee tracking.

    Explore the forest in search of chimpanzees while enjoying opportunities to observe the diverse birdlife and other forest species go for lunch and relaxation.

    In the afternoon, experience the Nyungwe Canopy Walkway, suspended above the forest and offering impressive views across the rainforest return to the hotel for dinner and overnight.

  • Day 4 - NYUNGWE – LAKE KIVU BOAT EXPERIENCE

    After breakfast, depart Nyungwe and travel towards Lake Kivu continue to the lakeside town of Karongi, enjoying the scenic landscapes along the way.

    In the afternoon, take a boat trip on Lake Kivu, offering an opportunity to appreciate the lake, surrounding hills and islands return to the hotel for dinner and overnight.

  • Day 5 - LAKE KIVU – MUSANZE

    LAKE KIVU – MUSANZE


    After breakfast, depart Lake Kivu and continue northwards towards Musanze and enjoy the changing scenery as you travel towards the Virunga volcanic region.

    Upon arrival, check in to the hotel, have lunch and spend the remainder of the day exploring the city of Musanze and preparing for the following day's gorilla trekking experience.

  • Day 6 - GORILLA TREKKING – MUSANZE – KIGALI

    GORILLA TREKKING – MUSANZE – KIGALI


    After an early breakfast, transfer to Volcanoes National Park for registration and briefing before beginning your gorilla trekking experience.

    Enter the forest in search of a habituated mountain gorilla family. The duration of the trek depends on the location of the gorillas. After the trek, return to the hotel for lunch and refreshment later in the afternoon, drive back to Kigali and check in at your hotel.

Getting There

Kigali International Airport (KGL), on the outskirts of Kigali, would most likely be your point of entry point into the country. There are currently no direct flights from any North American city to Kigali. All require at least one stop, with most major cities, including New York, Toronto, Sao Paolo and Montreal only requiring one stop. Direct flights are available from Amsterdam and Brussels. There are also direct flights on Turkish Airlines, from Istanbul, and from Dubai on Rwanda Air. There are no direct flights from Doha and Qatar. Flights from major cities in Asia, such as Hong Kong and Singapore, also require one stop. Flights from Sydney, Australia presently require two stops.

Rwanda is quite tiny, and most people travel inside the country by car. Rwanda's speed limit is 60 kilometres per hour on all roads. Akagera Aviation, on the other hand, provides charter helicopter transfers to and from any place in the country.

  • When arriving from a yellow-fever-infected country in Africa or the Americas a yellow fever vaccination certificate is required.
  • As of January 2018, citizens of all countries are now eligible for visas on arrival at US$30 for 30 days. More details at www.migration.gov.rw
  • For people visiting Rwanda in conjunction with Kenya and/or Uganda, it is possible to buy a joint visa for all three countries with advance application. See www.migration.gov.rw for details.
