This 4-day Murchison Falls wildlife safari offers gratifying experiences of viewing wildlife in the savannah and near the Nile river. You will see many animals such as rhinos, elephants, giraffes, lions, hippos, crocodiles, and more. Starting from Kampala, you will head to Murchison Falls National Park with a stopover at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary where you will get the opportunity to track rhinos on foot as well as other animals that live in the sanctuary. In Murchison Falls National Park, you will go on various game drives where you will see many animals such as giraffes, elephants, lions, hippos, buffalos, antelopes, and many bird species. You will also take the boat cruise to the bottom of the Falls, where you will experience the power of the Nile River as it squeezes through a 7-meter gap in the rock. On the boat cruise, you will get to see a lot more animals as they come to the water, such as crocodiles and hippos as well as hundreds of bird species. This trip is ideal for a solo or group getaway that involves a lot of wildlife viewing.

  • Day 1 - Drive to Murchison Falls National Park
    Your day will begin with a scenic drive to Murchison Falls National Park – northwest of Jinja. The journey will take approximately 8 to 9 hrs with a stopover at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary for Rhino Tracking. From Ziwa, you will stop for lunch in Masindi Town. After your lunch, you will continue to Murchison Falls National Park, and have a chance to stop by the ‘top of the falls’ where you can see the Nile’s beauty perfected. This is where the Nile compresses from a width of 50 meters into a 7-meter canyon that forms the waterfall after which the park is named. From here, you will continue to your accommodation where you will rest for the night.

  • Day 2 - Wildlife game drive & Boat cruise on the Nile
    Early morning, your guide will take you for a wildlife safari game drive on the northern bank of the River Nile. Here, you will spot Elephants, Lions, Cape buffalo, Rothschild’s giraffe, hartebeest, Waterbuck, Oribi, Bushbuck, Bohor reedbuck, hyena, and if you are lucky, the leopard. You will return to your lodge for breakfast, rest, and lunch before heading out for the afternoon boat cruise. The boat cruise takes you upstream on the calm Victoria Nile to the base of the falls stopping just a few meters from the “Devil’s Cauldron”. While on the boat cruise, you will have a chance to marvel at the hippos floating in the water, and crocodiles as well as elephants, waterbuck, Uganda kob, and many other animals over this 19 km stretch of the Nile. For bird-watching enthusiasts, there are many chances of seeing bird species like the Goliath heron, Egyptian goose, Brown pelican, Red-throated bee-eater, various kingfishers, Fish eagles, cormorant, and the rare shoebill stork. After the boat cruise, you will return to your accommodation.

  • Day 3 - Morning Game drive & Relax at Chobe
    After Breakfast, we check out from your lodge and then start with a morning game drive that will end at the Chobe Safari Lodge in time for lunch. Spend the whole afternoon relaxing at the lodge enjoying the luxurious amenities offered.

  • Day 4 - Drive back to Kampala
    After your breakfast, you will leave Murchison Falls and drive back to Kampala via Masindi Town. The journey takes around 6 hours and you should reach Kampala with plenty of time to refresh and rest.

Getting There

From outside East Africa, Uganda can be easily accessed either by road or Air and mostly by Air to Entebbe International Airport (EBB). Water transport can also be used to travel in and around our destinations especially the ferry crossing from the Southern part of Murchison Falls National Park to the Northern part of Murchison Falls National Park. Flights to Uganda are cheapest during the rainy seasons from March to May and October to November. The best wildlife viewing months are June to September and December to February, when flights are likely to be more expensive.

  • When arriving from a yellow-fever-infected country in Africa or the Americas a yellow fever vaccination certificate is required.
  • Citizens of most countries require a visa. A list of countries that don't need a visa is available.
  • Visas are best obtained in advance through an official online visa-application portal (https://visas.immigration.go.ug/), but they can also be obtained through your local Tanzania Embassy or High Commission.
  • Visas can also be obtained on arrival but this is a lengthy process that can take one to two hours.
  • Tourist visas are available for Uganda only, or East Africa (which covers entry to Uganda, Kenya and Rwanda) for the same cost.
