With the Active Adventure tour, 05 Days group tour, Danakil Depression, Dalol, Erta ale Volcano, you have a 5 days tour package taking you through Semera, Ethiopia and other destinations in Ethiopia. Visiting the Denakil Depression is a real expedition. The sometimes very rough roads are leading into hot and dusty area. Camping is most of the time the only option to spend the night. To transport everything we need (including a lot of water) and for the necessary backup, we travel with a minimum of two 4WD vehicles. However, you are going to be rewarded with a once in a lifetime experience in one of the most beautiful places on our planet. Extraordinary scenery, amazing nights under the stars and the brave Afar people are waiting for you.

  • Day 01 - Drive Addis Ababa to Semera
    Drive from Addis Ababa to Awash Town, which is located in the central part of the rift valley system. On way drive through Debrezeit (Bishoftu) town famous for the 7 lakes crater lakes and Nazareth (Adama) the capital of Oromia Regional state. Awash is famous for its national park and Awash River water fall. Another fantastic game drive is also possible to Allideghe Wildlife Reserve to see Zebras, Oryxes, Gazelles, Ostriches, etc. Drive to Semera and Overnight in Hotel.

  • Day 02 - Drive to Dallol
    Pick up from Hotel Semera at 7:00 AM then drive through Lake Afdera the Salt Lake, Passing through the beautiful Lake Afdera and a breath taking land scape and arrive in Dalol in the afternoon and visit the lake Asebo Asebo is the place where the salts are mined. Observe the breaking of the salt from the ground, cutting into rectangular pieces and loading on camels. You drive ahead to Dallol (130 KM) and visit the difference landscape formed by volcanic activity, Dallol + Lake Assal (-130 m) + camel caravans (No camel caravan on July, August, and early September). Excursion to Dallol (116 meters below sea level, one of the lowest places in the world) colorful salts mining, visit Lake Assal, follow up camel caravans and walk with the Afar people, see the sunsetig the beautiful and colorful land scape. Drive back to Hamedela, Overnight Camping – Dalol

Most of the visitors arrive at the Bole International Airport (ADD) in Addis Ababa. Usually, the Safari operator picks you up at the airport and takes care of any travel arrangements from there. If you are already in the region it’s possible to get in by land from Sudan, Kenya and Djibouti. It is best to stay away from the borders of South Sudan and Somalia. Drive-around tours are also available (especially in southern Ethiopia). Even when flying around, covering some distances by car can be very rewarding as you'll see some of the Ethiopian countrysides.

  • When arriving from a country in Africa or the Americas where yellow fever is present, a yellow fever vaccination certificate is required.
