Wildlife & Animals
Moremi is home to all of the big five animals. Elephant herds can be found in their thousands, particularly close to the Mopane woodlands in the dry cold weather months. Because of large quantities of prey, predators can frequently be found in nearness and battles for strength happen, particularly between lions and hyenas. Leopards are very loose here and wild dog sightings are probably the most incredible in Africa. Rhinos have been once again introduced and the reserve is currently one of the last safe havens for the vulnerable white and black rhinos.
Wildlife Highlights
One of Moremi's popular residents is the African wild dog. The Reserve has the world's most noteworthy concentration of these endangered lovely animals inside its borders (around 150-200). Other animals you can hope to see here are giraffes, cheetahs, impalas, jackals, red lechwe and hippos. The semi-aquatic sitatunga is more enthusiastic to find. Other unusual antelope incorporate tsessebe, sable and roan. Spotted-necked and African clawless otters can once in a while be seen swimming in the channels.
Best Time for Wildlife Viewing
Moremi Game Reserve has very seasonal wildlife viewing. However, Best time to Moremi region is in the Dry season from July to October as there is a deluge of animals assembling here around then. Some lodges close from January to March when some areas might become inaccessible.

Birds
Moremi Game Reserve is a birdwatcher's haven with almost 400 species on record, some of them endangered. For birdwatchers, there is a list of "special sightings" that can be done in the Moremi Reserve, the first species on this list is definitely the slaty egret that can be seen in shallow waters in isolated areas with many cane thickets. The magnificent wattled crane is usually seen in pairs or in groups moving around on floodplains with low water or on wet grassy plains, looking for fish or small amphibians and small reptiles. Birds regularly let boats come extremely close making photography astoundingly simple. Another wetland special is the gracious wattled crane.
Best Time for Birding
Moremi can be visited around the year for Bird watching. However, the best time to visit is from November to April. During this time migratory birds are present. Also, during these months a lot of birds are breeding, and large colonies of waterbirds can be found nesting on the sandbanks in the river. April might be the best compromise, as from January to March many areas become inaccessible and some lodges close.
