The Rongai Route is one of the easiest and least crowded routes to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro. It begins on the northern side of the mountain near the Kenyan border and offers a gradual ascent, making it an excellent choice for those seeking better acclimatization and higher success rates. This 7-day itinerary includes an extra day for adaptation to altitude, increasing the chances of reaching Uhuru Peak (5,895m/19,341ft). - Day 1 - Arrive at Kilimanjaro Airport, Transfer to Arusha
- Arrive at Kilimanjaro Airport and transfer to Arusha.
- A driver will meet you at the airport after immigration and customs. Look for a sign with written your name.
- The drive to Arusha takes a minimum of 45 minutes, depending on traffic.
- Trek orientation with your Kilimanjaro guide and opportunity to rent any necessary gear.
- Extra luggage not needed for the trek can be left at the hotel.

- Drive to Nale Moru village (about 2 hours, including a permit stop at Marangu).
- Start the hike through maize and potato fields, then enter a pine forest.
- Gradual ascent through the forest, reaching the moorland zone with views over the Kenyan plains.

- Descend to Kibo for lunch, then continue to Horombo Hut.
