Your safari begins early in the morning in Dar es Salaam around 5:30am, where you will be picked up from your hotel and transferred to the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) station for the fast train to Morogoro. The modern train offers a comfortable and smooth journey, allowing you to avoid long road travel and reach the safari area quickly about 1.5 hours of traveling.

After arrival in Morogoro, your professional safari guide will meet you at the station and transfer you by 4×4 safari vehicle to Mikumi National Park, which takes about 1.5 to 2 hours. The drive passes through beautiful countryside and local villages before entering the park.

Upon arrival at Mikumi around 9:30am, you will start a game drive across the famous Mkata floodplain, one of the best wildlife viewing areas in Tanzania, often compared to Serengeti National Park because of its open savannah and abundant animals. During the safari, you may see elephants, lions, giraffes, zebras, buffaloes, wildebeests, antelopes, hippos, and many bird species.

Around midday, you will stop for lunch at a lodge or picnic site inside the park, followed by another short afternoon game drive to maximize wildlife sightings.

In the late afternoon, you will leave the park and drive back to Morogoro to catch the evening SGR train to Dar es Salaam. Upon arrival at night, our driver will transfer you back to your hotel, ending your Mikumi day trip safari.
