  • Day 1 - Day Trip Itinerary: Udzungwa Mountains National ParkMorning:
    Early Morning: Departure & Arrival Transport: If you're coming from Dar es Salaam, it’s a 4-5 hour drive to the park. If you're staying nearby, such as in Iringa, the park is around an hour away. You’ll arrive early morning at the park entrance, Kidayi Gate. Inclusions: Transportation: Round-trip transport (either from Dar es Salaam or nearby cities such as Iringa), including entrance fees. Park Fees: Entry fees to Udzungwa Mountains National Park (usually covered in the package). Morning: Rainforest Trekking Trekking the Rainforest Once you arrive, you’ll be briefed on the rules and guidelines of the park. The main activity of the day is a guided rainforest trek to explore the park's biodiversity. There are different trekking options, with the most popular being the Sanje Waterfalls Trek, which takes about 3-4 hours. The trek leads you through dense forest, along beautiful streams, and up to the breathtaking Sanje Waterfalls (the largest in the park) that cascade down the mountainside. Inclusions: Guided Trek: A knowledgeable local guide will accompany you, offering insights into the flora and fauna of the park. They will help you spot the park’s endemic species and explain the unique ecosystem. Sanje Waterfalls Visit: A stop at the waterfalls for some fantastic photo opportunities and a chance to cool off. Midday: Lunch at the Park Lunch: After your trek, you will have a break for lunch, either at a designated picnic spot in the park or back at the park's entry area. Enjoy a packed lunch, which is usually provided by your tour operator or lodge. Inclusions: Lunch: A packed lunch or meal at a designated area in or near the park, depending on the tour operator. Afternoon: Wildlife Viewing & Optional Activities Afternoon: Wildlife Spotting & Relaxation After lunch, you can either relax or go for another shorter trek or activity. The park is home to a variety of wildlife, including the Udzungwa red colobus monkey, sable antelopes, and elephants. If you're interested in more wildlife or plant species, you can either embark on a brief nature walk or another shorter trek. Some tours also offer optional activities like birdwatching or visiting other spots within the park. Inclusions: Wildlife Viewing: Time to spot wildlife, with a chance to see some of the rare species found only in the Udzungwa Mountains. Optional Nature Walk or Birdwatching: Depending on your interest, you may have time for additional activities like birdwatching or nature walks around the park. Late Afternoon: Departure Return to the Starting Point In the late afternoon, you’ll begin your return journey to your starting point (either back to Iringa or Dar es Salaam). Inclusions: Departure Transfer: Transport back to your accommodation or onward destination.
