  • Day 1 - Dar es Salaam to Amani Nature Forest Reserve - Forest Immers
    Morning: Your driver will pick you up from your hotel in Dar es Salaam. Begin your scenic drive to Amani Nature Forest Reserve, passing through lush landscapes and local villages. Arrival & Check-in: Arrive at Amani Nature Forest Reserve. Head to the reserve headquarters to pay entrance fees and register. Then, proceed to your chosen accommodation. Lunch : Enjoy your packed lunch Afternoon: Embark on your first activity: a guided walk through the Amani Botanical Garden. This historic garden, established during the German colonial era, is the oldest in East Africa and boasts an incredible collection of endemic and exotic plant species. Your guide will share insights into the medicinal and ecological importance of the plants. Late Afternoon: Return to your accommodation. Evening: Enjoy dinner and overnight stay.

  • Day 2 - Hiking, Waterfalls and Local Culture
    Morning : After breakfast, set out for a longer guided hike. Amani offers several trails, and your guide will choose one based on your fitness level and interests. Option 1: Kisasa Waterfall Trail: A popular choice leading to a beautiful waterfall where you can swim in the plunge pools. This walk often takes 4-5 hours. Option 2: Kwamkoro Trail/Mbomole Hill: A more challenging hike with rewarding views and opportunities for serious birdwatching. Focus: Throughout your hike, your guide will point out interesting flora, diverse bird species (Amani is a birdwatcher's paradise with over 340 recorded species, including endemics like the Amani Sunbird and Usambara Eagle-Owl), and various insects, especially butterflies. Picnic Lunch: Enjoy a packed picnic lunch amidst the forest's tranquility. Butterfly Farm Visit: Visit a local butterfly farming project. This is an excellent initiative that supports local communities while contributing to conservation efforts. Learn about the lifecycle of butterflies and how their farming provides sustainable income. Spice Farm Tour: Amani and the Usambaras are known for their spices. You can visit a nearby spice farm to learn about the cultivation and processing of various spices like cardamom, vanilla, black pepper, and cinnamon. Late Afternoon: Return to your accommodation. Evening: Dinner and overnight stay.

  • Day 3 - Tea Plantations & Departure to Dar es Salaam
    Morning: After breakfast, take a final activity that offers a different perspective of the area. Kwamkoro Tea Plantations: Visit the nearby Kwamkoro tea plantations. Learn about the tea production process, from plucking to processing, and enjoy the scenic views of the rolling tea hills. This area also offers excellent photographic opportunities. Lunch : Enjoy at your packed lunch. Afternoon: Begin your drive back to Dar es Salaam. Late Afternoon: Arrive in Dar es Salaam and be dropped off at your hotel.
