This will be an eventful day and you need to wake up at around 6am. As you take breakfast, request the hotel to prepare for you parked lunch just in case the trekking activity goes on past mid-day. The driver will take you to the park offices so that you are in time for the briefing from the park ranger-guide which starts at 7:30am. The briefing covers everything you must know about gorilla trekking including the gorilla groups in the sector, history of the forest and what to expect. After the briefing, you will be assigned a gorilla family along with 7 other travelers. The Park Guides will offer you a hiking stick and a chance to hire porters to help you with any heavy luggage/cameras. After everyone is assembled, you will begin tracking the primates. Gorilla trekking can take anywhere between 30 minutes to 6 hours depending on the gorilla family you are tracking and their location on the day of the trek. Once you get to them, you are allowed only one hour of observation. Use this time to study the group and individual members. Do not forget to take some videos and photos or else no one will know that you ever took part in such a fascinating activity. Please kindly note that mountain gorillas are wild animals and, as such, sightings cannot be guaranteed. However viewing success rates are over 90%. After spending time with the primates, you will be led back to the starting point for your certificate of participation. You will find our office Guide waiting to take you back to the hotel for lunch and rest. Batwa trail Late in the afternoon, you will be taken to visit the Batwa pygmies of Bwindi. The nature walk will offer you an opportunity to learn about their ancient ways of life and the struggles to adapt to modern life outside the forest. Relaxation on Lake Bunyonyi After the Batwa trail, you will then proceed to Lake Bunyonyi. Lake Bunyonyi is framed by lush as well as green-terraced hills that reach a height of (2,200 – 2,478m). I and Lizzie (my wife) did the 18 Day Explore Uganda Safari in July 2023 and we enjoyed every second of it. We visited Murchison Falls NP, Kibale Forest NP, Bwindi NP, Queen Elizabeth National Park, did the Trekking of Gorillas at Bwindi and Chimpanzee at Kibale National Park. We visited the amazing Sipi Falls and Lake Bunyonyi too The communication with Joseph beforehand was wonderful and he always answered us promptly. The 4x4 comfortable safari vans and serene accommodation facilities were all exceptional. Rushaga Gorilla Camp and Buffalo Safari Lodge were amazing accommodation facilities and we thank Joseph for choosing quality facilities Our guide Baker made it a memorable Experience to last and we can highly recommend him to show you beautiful Uganda. He took great care of us and let us have a lot of time with the animals we encountered. We felt safe and very welcome during our entire stay and are already looking forward to coming back. Thank you Arcadia Safaris for this memorable holiday. I strongly recommend Arcadia Safaris for anyone with Safari plans in Uganda and Africa at large. See you Arcadia soon
