1WINDHOEK to SOSSUSVLEI
Time/ Distance: 4 hr 46 min (364.8 km) We collect you at your accommodation in Windhoek between 08h00 and 08h30 and head southwest for the Eros Mountains, passing through picturesque landscape along the way. We cross the Naukluft Mountains whose ancient rock formations are an important part of Namibia’s geological history. We descend Namibia’s central plateau along the scenic Remhoogte Pass after which the landscape opens up onto wide plains and savannah grassland. Passing the small, charming town of Solitaire, we cross some of Namibia’s agricultural reaches until the land suddenly transitions into the dramatic and arresting dune fields of the Namib Desert. We arrive at Sesriem campsite in the late afternoon, just as the setting sun begins to illuminate the eastern mountains in soft dabs of red and gold. Enjoy a delicious dinner at the campfire before settling in for a good night’s sleep in the restful beauty of the Desert night, lulled by the lullaby of the desert barking gecko and the distant cries of the jackal. Overnight & Dinner at Sesriem Campsite
Main Destination: Sossusvlei

2SESRIEM & SOSSUSVLEI
We head out at dawn as the sunrise breaks gently over the silent desert. We enter through the gate at Sesriem, drive to the center of the dune field and go on a 5-kilometer hike through the dunes to Sossusvlei. At Sossusvlei, you will encounter the majestic red dunes of the Namib Desert which is truly a photographer’s paradise. Some of the wonderful sights at Sossusvlei include Dune 45, Hidden Vlei, Big Daddy and Dead Vlei, and the Sesriem Canyon. We explore Dune 45, so named for its location 45 kilometers from the town of Sesriem, with graceful gradients offering a kinder climb than the imposing Big Daddy. We return to Sesriem for lunch and relaxation to escape the mid-day heat. As the day begins to cool, we head out to explore Sesriem Canyon which consists of beautiful rock passages carved over time by the meandering Tsauchab River. Overnight & Dinner at Sesriem Campsite.
