1Day 1: Arrival & Exploration
Morning: Arrival Transport: Depending on your location, you can fly into Mwanza and then take a boat transfer to Rubondo Island (approximately 1-2 hours). Arrival at Rubondo Island Lodge: Upon arrival at the island, check in at the Rubondo Island Lodge or one of the nearby camps. Inclusions: Transportation: Round-trip flights or road transfer to Mwanza, followed by boat transfer to Rubondo Island. Accommodation: Full-board accommodation at Rubondo Island Lodge or a similar camp. Meals: Lunch upon arrival. Afternoon: Island Exploration & Game Drive After check-in, enjoy an afternoon exploration of the island with an emphasis on its flora and fauna. The island is known for its large populations of chimpanzees, various primates, birdlife, and other wildlife. A guided game drive or walk through the island's forest and savannah will allow you to spot the wildlife that inhabits the area. Inclusions: Guided Walk or Game Drive: A guided walk through the island’s forest or a game drive through the savannah. Expect to see chimpanzees, monkeys, bushbuck, giraffes, and various bird species. Snacks & Beverages: Refreshments during the exploration. Early Morning: Chimpanzee Tracking or Birdwatching On your second day, set out early to go tracking the island’s resident chimpanzees. Rubondo Island has one of the few chimpanzee populations in Tanzania, and you can enjoy a memorable experience observing their behaviors in the wild. Alternatively, if you are a bird enthusiast, take a morning birdwatching tour to see the variety of species, including water birds, raptors, and forest species. Inclusions: Chimpanzee Tracking or Birdwatching: Early morning guided activity. Beverages: Tea, coffee, or light snacks during the morning activity. Late Morning: Relax or Boat Safari After your chimpanzee tracking or birdwatching, you can return to the lodge for a late breakfast or brunch.
