- Day 1 - Dar es Salaam to Kitulo National Park5:30 AM – Departure from Dar es Salaam You’ll begin your journey early to make the most of your time in the park. A private vehicle or tour operator will pick you up from your accommodation in Dar es Salaam. The drive to Kitulo National Park takes approximately 6-7 hours (around 350 km), so you’ll have an opportunity to enjoy Tanzania's scenic landscapes on the way. During the journey, you’ll pass through the Makonde Plateau and beautiful countryside. 12:30 PM – Arrival at Kitulo National Park Upon arrival, you'll head to your accommodation near the park, which could be a lodge, camp, or a nearby guesthouse. After check-in and a quick rest, enjoy a delicious lunch featuring local dishes before heading into the park. 2:00 PM – Afternoon Game Drive After lunch, you’ll start exploring Kitulo National Park with a guided game drive. The park is a mixture of grassland, wetlands, and mountain forest, providing a home for various species, including: Tanzanian highland zebra Baboons Warthogs Antelopes like eland, impalas, and waterbucks Bird species like the blue swallow, white-winged flufftail, and other endemic birds The park is most famous for its wildflowers, especially orchids, which bloom in the rainy season (from November to April), creating a vibrant, colourful spectacle. 5:30 PM – Scenic Walk & Sunset View If time allows, enjoy a short scenic walk to observe the landscape and flora. Depending on the season, you may also be able to spot various types of orchids and other endemic plants. Find a good spot for the sunset view, as the park offers beautiful views of the surrounding mountains and fields. 7:00 PM – Dinner & Overnight Stay Return to your accommodation for dinner. Enjoy a relaxing evening and an overnight stay in a lodge or camp near the park.

- Day 2 - Full Day in Kitulo National Park and Return to Dar es Salaam6:00 AM – Breakfast & Morning Game Drive After an early breakfast, head out for a morning game drive to explore other parts of the park. Early mornings are a good time to observe wildlife that is more active at dawn, including giraffes, zebras, and various bird species. The park is also known for its birdwatching opportunities, so keep an eye out for some rare and endemic species. 9:00 AM – Visit to the Wildflower Areas If you’re visiting during the flower season (typically November to April), you’ll get the chance to visit the wildflower areas where the park’s famous orchids and wildflowers bloom. This is one of the most spectacular parts of the park, with a wide variety of orchids, lilies, and other floral species. 12:00 PM – Picnic Lunch in the Park Enjoy a picnic lunch in a scenic part of the park, surrounded by nature. Your guide will prepare lunch in a designated spot within the park, allowing you to take in the beauty of Kitulo while eating. 1:00 PM – Afternoon Game Drive & Exploration After lunch, embark on another game drive, or take a nature walk with your guide to learn more about the park’s flora and fauna. Kitulo offers a peaceful environment, and you may also encounter other wildlife like buffaloes, elephants, and various primates. You can also take a moment to relax and absorb the stunning views over the Kitulo Plateau, with its grasslands, wetlands, and mountain backdrops. 3:30 PM – Departure for Dar es Salaam After a fulfilling day in the park, start your drive back to Dar es Salaam. This will take approximately 6-7 hours, so you’ll arrive back in the evening. 9:30 PM – Arrival in Dar es Salaam You’ll be dropped off at your accommodation or the airport in Dar es Salaam, marking the end of your adventure.
