This 6-day private Kenya safari offers a carefully balanced journey through four of the country’s most iconic wildlife regions. Starting in Nairobi, the route heads north to the semi-arid wilderness of Samburu National Reserve, known for its rare northern species and dramatic river ecosystems. From there, the itinerary continues into the cool highlands of the Aberdares, where guests experience a unique tree-top wildlife stay overlooking a floodlit waterhole. The safari then descends into the Great Rift Valley for game viewing at Lake Nakuru National Park, a key sanctuary for rhinos, giraffes, and seasonal flamingos. The final stage takes you to the world-renowned Masai Mara National Reserve, home to the Big Five, expansive savannahs, and some of Africa’s highest concentrations of wildlife. Travel is in a private 4x4 Land Cruiser with an experienced safari guide, ensuring comfort, flexibility, and optimal game viewing throughout the journey. Accommodation is in carefully selected lodges on a full-board basis, with all park fees, meals, and transfers included.   • Day 1 - Nairobi to Samburu National Reserve

    You will be picked up early in the morning from your hotel or the airport in Nairobi by the Jossec Safaris team for a short safari briefing before beginning your journey north toward Samburu National Reserve. Drive through the scenic central highlands, passing coffee plantations, local villages, and crossing the Equator en route to Kenya’s rugged northern frontier.

    Arrive at Samburu Sopa Lodge in time for lunch and relaxation. The lodge is beautifully set on elevated ground with panoramic views of the semi-arid wilderness surrounding the reserve.

    In the afternoon, enjoy your first game drive in Samburu National Reserve, one of Kenya’s most unique safari destinations. Samburu is famous for its rare northern species known as the “Samburu Special Five,” including the Grevy’s zebra, reticulated giraffe, Somali ostrich, gerenuk, and Beisa oryx. Wildlife viewing is concentrated along the Ewaso Nyiro River, where elephants, lions, leopards, crocodiles, and numerous bird species are commonly spotted.

    Return to the lodge in the evening for dinner and overnight stay.

  • Day 2 - Samburu National Reserve to Aberdares National Park

    After breakfast, depart Samburu and drive south through Kenya’s fertile agricultural landscapes toward the cool Aberdare highlands. Enjoy scenic views of tea and coffee plantations along the way before arriving at the Aberdares region in time for lunch.

    After lunch, transfer by lodge shuttle to The Ark Lodge, a unique tree-top safari lodge strategically built overlooking a floodlit waterhole and salt lick deep inside Aberdares National Park.

    Spend the afternoon and evening relaxing at the lodge’s viewing decks and lounges while watching wildlife gather at the waterhole. Elephants, buffaloes, bushbucks, giant forest hogs, hyenas, and occasionally leopards frequently visit the area, offering a completely different safari experience where nature comes directly to you.

  • Day 3 - Aberdares National Park to Lake Nakuru National Park

    After breakfast and transfer back from The Ark Lodge, continue your safari to Lake Nakuru National Park, arriving in time for lunch at Lake Nakuru Sopa Lodge.

    In the afternoon, head out for a rewarding game drive in Lake Nakuru National Park, one of Kenya’s best wildlife sanctuaries. The park is internationally known for its rhino conservation efforts and offers excellent chances of spotting both black and white rhinos. Depending on the season, thousands of flamingos may be seen along the lake shores. Other wildlife commonly spotted includes Rothschild giraffes, tree-climbing lions, buffaloes, zebras, waterbucks, and leopards.

    The park’s compact size and diverse habitats make it ideal for excellent game viewing within a short period.

    Return to the lodge in the evening for dinner and overnight stay.

    Arrive at Masai Mara Sopa Lodge in time for lunch and relaxation. In the afternoon, visit a traditional Maasai village for an authentic cultural experience. Meet the Maasai people and learn about their traditions, culture, daily lifestyle, traditional dances, and unique way of life that has been preserved for generations.

    Later return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

  • Day 5 - Full Day Game Drive in Masai Mara

    After breakfast, depart with picnic lunch boxes for a full-day game drive in the Masai Mara National Reserve, one of Africa’s greatest wildlife destinations. The reserve is famous for its vast open plains, large concentrations of wildlife, and exceptional predator sightings.

    Explore different regions of the reserve in search of the Big Five including lions, elephants, buffaloes, leopards, and rhinos. You may also spot cheetahs, hyenas, jackals, giraffes, zebras, wildebeests, and numerous antelope species. During the Great Migration season, witness dramatic wildebeest crossings along the Mara River as crocodiles wait nearby.

    Lunch will be enjoyed in the bush while surrounded by the stunning African wilderness.

    An optional hot air balloon safari can be arranged at an extra cost of USD 450 per person, offering spectacular aerial views of the Masai Mara followed by a champagne breakfast in the bush.

Getting There

Ethiopia, situated in the famous Horn of Africa, is known as both the Land of Origins and the Land of a Thousand Smiles. Most of the visitors arrive at the Bole International Airport (ADD) in Addis Ababa. Usually, the Safari operator picks you up at the airport and takes care of any travel arrangements from there. If you are already in the region it’s possible to get in by land from Sudan, Kenya and Djibouti. It is best to stay away from the borders of South Sudan and Somalia. Drive-around tours are also available (especially in southern Ethiopia). Even when flying around, covering some distances by car can be very rewarding as you'll see some of the Ethiopian countrysides.
