Arrive in the Masai Mara around lunchtime and check in at your budget accommodation. Enjoy lunch and some time to relax before visiting a traditional Maasai village.

Experience the local Maasai culture, learn about traditional customs and daily life, and interact with members of the community. Continue with a guided nature walk around the local area, discovering the landscapes, plants and traditional way of life before returning to your camp for dinner and overnight.

  • Day 2 - Masai Mara National Reserve - Nairobi Hotel/Airport

Wake up early and enjoy breakfast before heading out for an extended morning and afternoon game drive. The early morning is an excellent time for wildlife viewing, as many animals are active during the cooler hours.

Continue exploring the Masai Mara National Reserve throughout the morning and early afternoon with your experienced driver-guide. Search for lions, elephants, buffaloes, cheetahs, leopards, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest and many other wildlife species.

Enjoy a packed lunch during the day and continue your game drive until approximately 3:00 PM. From July to October, the Masai Mara is a key destination for the Great Wildebeest Migration, when large herds move into Kenya from the Serengeti. Wildlife sightings and river crossings depend on seasonal and weather conditions.

At around 3:00 PM, exit the Masai Mara National Reserve and begin your journey back to Nairobi. Enjoy the changing landscapes and scenic views of the Kenyan countryside and Great Rift Valley along the way.

Arrive in Nairobi and drop off at your hotel or airport between approximately 7:00 PM and 8:00 PM, depending on traffic and road conditions. This marks the end of your 2-day, 1-night private budget safari with Marula Horizon Safaris.

Getting There

Tourists can visit these safari locations once in Kenya and can show up via air, land or ocean, however, flights are the most favoured mode of transport. Kenya is a huge nation and while you can go via vehicle on a safari circuit, getting between the various regions is better on a booked flight.Kenya's main airport is Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (NBO), located 15km/9mi southeast of Nairobi. Kenya's second international Airport is Moi International Airport (MBA), located 9km/6mi west of Mombasa, but aside from flights to Zanzibar, this is primarily used for domestic and charter flights. From Nairobi or Mombasa, one can fly or drive between reserves, or opt to do a bit of both. Most domestic flights out of Nairobi depart from Wilson Airport (WIL), 6km/4mi south of Nairobi.
