Arrive at the edge of the Okavango and transfer into the wilderness of Xaxaba. The journey sets the tone immediately as you leave behind the mainland and enter a landscape shaped entirely by water, reed beds, and island forests.
Settle into your mobile camp and enjoy a light lunch before heading out for your first afternoon activity a gentle motorized boat safari through nearby channels. This is a perfect introduction to the Delta, with slow navigation through winding waterways lined with papyrus and water lilies.

- Day 2-5 - Mokoro Exploration of Hidden Channels
Start the day with a traditional mokoro excursion, gliding silently through narrow, glassy channels. Your poler guides you through a maze of reed-lined waterways where motorized boats cannot reach.
This is an intimate way to experience the Delta watching tiny reed frogs, listening to bird calls, and spotting elephants moving quietly along the banks. The pace is slow and immersive, allowing time to absorb the finer details of the ecosystem.
Return to camp for rest during the heat of the day. In the late afternoon, enjoy a short mokoro safari to explore deeper lagoons before heading back for dinner under the stars.

After breakfast, travel by motorized boat deeper into the Delta toward Chief's Island, the heart of one of Africa’s richest wildlife areas. The journey itself is a safari, with constant wildlife sightings along the waterways.
As you approach Chief’s Island, the landscape shifts into a mix of open floodplains and island woodland. Afternoon is spent exploring surrounding channels by boat, watching elephants crossing waterways, hippos submerged in deep pools, and predators moving along the fringes of dry land.
Return to camp as the sun sets, with golden light reflecting off the water and birds returning to roost.

- Day 4-5 - Full Day Mokoro & Boat Combination Safari
Spend the day exploring the waterways around Chief's Island. Begin with a morning mokoro excursion into quiet channels where wildlife is most active and the Delta is calm and still. The early light and silence create a deep sense of connection to the surroundings as you glide through reeds and shallow waterways.
Return to camp for a short break, then head out again in the afternoon by motorized boat to explore wider channels and active wildlife areas. Look out for elephants crossing waterways, buffalo in large herds, and a variety of birdlife across the floodplains and islands.
As the day ends, enjoy a slow cruise back to camp, taking in the warm sunset light reflecting across the water and the peaceful atmosphere of the Delta at dusk.

Wild Spirit Travel
Built for true explorers, our safaris are raw, untamed, and deeply immersive designed for those who want to experience the wilderness as it is, not from a distance.
We specialize in mobile expeditions that take you off the beaten track and into remote corners of the bush. Camp is set in the wild, where nights are lit by fire and the sounds of nature carry through the dark. Days are driven by instinct and terrain tracking wildlife on foot, navigating narrow delta channels by mokoro, and venturing further by motorized boat to reach untouched areas where few others go.
Our motorized boat safaris open up a different side of the wilderness covering greater distances, accessing deeper channels, and offering powerful, close-up encounters with wildlife along the water’s edge. It’s fast, dynamic, and unpredictable adding a new layer of adventure to the journey.
Led by experienced local guides, each expedition is flexible and shaped by the environment itself. There are no fixed routines only opportunities to explore, adapt, and fully engage with the wild.
This is not a polished, luxury escape. It’s a hands-on, boots-in-the-dust, water-on-your-skin kind of journey, real, rugged, and unforgettable.
