- Day 1 - FROM ARUSHA OR KARATU TO NGORONGORO CRATERYour safari adventure begins with an early morning departure from Hotel in Arusha or Karatu. As you drive toward Ngorongoro Conservation Area, the February morning air will be cool (around 15-20°C), with possible mist covering the lush highland forests. Keep your eyes peeled for olive baboons and blue monkeys in the trees, while colorful silvery-cheeked hornbills and Hartlaub's turacos flash through the canopy above. Descending into the Ngorongoro Crater, you'll enter a wildlife paradise. February brings the wildebeest calving season, making this an excellent time to witness predator action. The crater's open grasslands typically reveal lions lounging near their kills, families of elephants wandering between grazing buffalo herds, and if you're very lucky, the critically endangered black rhino. Hippos wallow in the Lerai Forest pools while flocks of flamingos create pink ribbons across Lake Magadi. Watch for massive Kori bustards strutting through the grass and yellow-billed kites circling above your picnic lunch site around 15:00. In the afternoon, you'll journey toward Serengeti National Park, possibly passing through the Ndutu area where the Great Migration herds gather with their newborn calves. This creates a magnet for cheetahs, lions, and hyenas. Your evening game drive in the Serengeti might reveal topi antelope standing sentry on termite mounds, gangs of bat-eared foxes hunting insects, and the brilliant flash of lilac-breasted rollers darting between acacia trees. As night falls at Yellow Barbert Tented Camps, listen for the haunting whoops of hyenas in the distance. During your Stay after dinner enjoy a night game drive for not less to 2 hours then head back for your sleep.
