- Accommodation before the tour starts can be arranged for an extra cost.
- Day 1 - ArrivalWelcome to Tanzania! After a 1.5-hour transfer from the airport to Arusha, we'll help you check into your lodge so that you can unpack and rest a bit before dinner. After dinner together, we'll receive our first trip briefing, going over what adventures the coming days hold. Eat well, but rest well too—the first day of the safari starts bright and early the next morning.
Accommodation: Ilboru Safari Lodge
Meals & Drinks: Lunch & Dinner Included
- Day 2 - Tarangire National ParkTime to properly start our adventure! Following an early breakfast, we'll leave at 8:00 am for a two-hour drive to Tarangire National Park. If it weren't for the nearby Serengeti, Tarangire would be world-famous in its own right—it's huge, full of animals (especially elephants), and full of breathtaking landscapes. We'll do a game drive and then stop for lunch around noon. We'll then have an additional afternoon drive before retiring to our lodge in Karatu.
Accommodation: Acacia Farm Lodge
Meals & Drinks: All Meals Included
- Day 3 - Enter the SerengetiFollowing breakfast we'll make our way towards the Serengeti, heading up and over the caldera rim of Ngorongoro Crater Conservation Area on the way, stopping to take in the view for a bit. The name Ngorongoro comes from the sound that a cowbell makes, as the area has traditionally been used by the Maasai people as a grazing area for their cattle. Just say "ngoro ngoro" three times fast and you'll see why they bestowed that name upon the crater. After a picnic lunch at the Serengeti park gate, we'll experience our first game drive through the world-famous Serengeti, making our way towards the lodge. Along the way, you'll see all types of antelope, zebras, wildebeest, and even possibly a few lions. Our team stays connected to other personnel in the park via radio, and they'll alert each other to anything special happening nearby. Because of this, you'll never miss a special safari moment nearby. We'll reach Tanzania Bush Camp, a luxurious safari camp right in the heart of the Serengeti, late in the afternoon. You'll have ample time to clean up and unpack a bit before we meet together for dinner around 7:30 pm. This is going to be our home for the next three nights, so feel free to settle in a bit!
Accommodation: Tanzania Bush Camp
Meals & Drinks: All Meals Included
- Day 4 - Serengeti National ParkDays four and five are our two full days in the Serengeti and comprise the heart of the trip. Here's what they will look like: MORNING: We'll start the day with a full-spread buffet breakfast at Tanzania Bush Camp, including offerings such as eggs, sausage, beans, vegetables, bread and pastries, cereal, tea, and coffee. After filling ourselves up, we head out for our first morning game drive in the Serengeti. The possibilities are endless each day, but you're guaranteed to see a load of animals that you've come to see, doing what they usually do: think of lions hunting prey, herds of elephants wandering through grazing lands, or zebras having a mid-morning drink at a watering hole. AFTERNOON: Each day, we'll head back to the camp to have a buffet lunch followed by a two- to three-hour siesta, as this is when the animals are the least active, huddling in the shade and sleeping through the oftentimes harsh mid-day sun. However, if we've received intelligence that something more worthwhile is further afield, we'll prepare a picnic lunch in the morning and head further into the park to see what we can find. Regardless, our lunch spot will have restrooms nearby or on the way, and you'll be able to relax knowing that our expert guides are closely monitoring the movements of any animals nearby to ensure your safety at all times.
Accommodation: Tanzania Bush Camp
Meals & Drinks: All Meals Included
- Day 5 - Serengeti National ParkSimilar to the day before, we spend all day on the trail to find the best wildlife spotting opportunities. Lunch will be had out in the field, or back at the tented camp, depending on your preference. OPTIONAL: early morning sunrise hot air balloon safari and bush breakfast ($600/person).
Accommodation: Tanzania Bush Camp
Meals & Drinks: All Meals Included
- Day 6 - Ngorongoro CraterWe'll make an early departure as we head toward the 12-mile/20-km wide Ngorongoro Crater. It'll be a fun morning driving through the extinct volcano caldera, watching the animals as they go about their day. Lunch will be a picnic in a designated area, right in the heart of the crater. After that, we slowly make our way up and out of the crater to enjoy a relaxing evening at our lodge.
Accommodation: Acacia Farm Lodge
Meals & Drinks: All Meals Included
- Day 7 - Maasai Cultural Experience, Shopping Opportunities, & FareweWe start off the day by visiting an authentic Maasai village — not one of the tourist ones you find alongside the road that other companies try to pawn off as the real thing. We'll enjoy a picnic lunch thereafter, and make a quick stop at a souvenir crafts shop, after which we'll visit a "commercial" Maasai boma (encampment). You may have a chance to see their traditional dancing, singing, and crafts. After a drive to Arusha and checking into your lodging, we cap the day off with a farewell dinner at your hotel.
Accommodation: Ilboru Safari Lodge
Meals & Drinks: All Meals Included
- Day 8 - DepartureUnless you're opting for the Zanzibar add-on (below), today means farewell to Tanzania. Take as long as you like to relax and enjoy your surroundings before being transferred to the airport in preparation for your flight home. Until next time!
