Many trekkers have been impressed with this route because it is one of the cheap, easy to access and short particularly taking 7 days. The trekking includes climbing higher to the peak and slowing down through the route heading back to Machame gate.

- Day 1 - ARUSHA TO MACHAME GATE (1490m) TO MACHAME CAMP (2980m).Distance; about 18kms. Hiking Time; 7hrs. After breakfast you will be driven about 2hrs40 from Arusha to Moshi town then proceed to Machame gate. Machame gate is situated in the remote megacity of Machame at the southern foothills of Mountain Kilimanjaro. The journey crosses through the village of Machame which is located on the lower slopes of the mountain. At the gate different procedures to sign in take place so you will be registered and allowed to get in and start the hiking. The gate is at the point of the park’s montane forest though the outside area is not surrounded by trees. You will have a company of a porter, cook, nurse and guide whereby all of them will be packing useful properties when the hiking. We then leave the Machame gate and walk through the rainforest on a winding trail up the ridge. To some moments the trail can be muddy and slippery so trekking pole are necessary. The trekking will continue ascending along the forest trails to Machame Camp at 2980m where we will stay overnight. You shall have dinner and overnight at Machame Camp habitat- FB.

- Day 2 - MACHAME CAMP (2980m) TO SHIRA CAMP (3840m).Distance; about 9kms. Hiking Time; 6hrs. On this day you will be served with breakfast then start the next trekking trip to Shira Camp leaving the rainforest behind. It is termed as a heath zone as the attractive lobelia are the only plants dominating the mountain landscape. Various geological features can be seen ranging from the lava tubes to glacial valleys. The trekking ascends abroad crossing a small valley up to a steep rocky ridge. The trek is steep as you move forward entering the low alpine zone characterized by grasslands and moorlands. The route then directs us to the west into the river gorge until we reach Shira Camp. This place is where we shall get dinner and overnight particularly at Shira Camp- FB.

- Day 3 - SHIRA CAMP (3840m) TO BARRANCO CAMP (3950m).Distance; about 15kms. Hiking Time; 7hrs. The whole trekking period this day’s trek is a bit long and tough. We will ascend into Alpine desert towards the main peak of Kibo the place where the western glacier becomes clearly visible. On this day we will climb up to 3950m to the base of the Lava Tower where you will get lunch, also special for acclimatization. The trek will leave the east passing the shira plateau up to Lava tower and after we will descend to Barranco Camp. The Camp is sited in a valley below the breach and Great Barranco Wall, the Barranco valley is one of the beautiful areas of the entire trail. After a long day trekking, you will camp at Barranco for dinner and overnight particularly at Barranco Camp- FB.

- Day 4 - BARRANCO CAMP (3950m) TO KARANGA VALLEY (4200m).Distance; about 6kms. Hiking Time; 3hrs. On this day after breakfast you will experience a hard task of climbing the top of Karanga Valley via Barranco wall. Barranco Wall gives hard time to trekkers for it needs skills, energy and compassion to succeed completing it. Because the area toward the karanga valley is edged you can be forced to use your four limbs when climbing. Right from this point you will follow the way that passes through many inclines and declines to Karanga Valley Camp. Karanga Valley camp is the stopover for the six day trekkers who after reaching the area they ascend to the other path back to the initial point. Dinner and overnight particularly at Karanga Valley Camp- FB.

- Day 5 - KARANGA VALLEY (4200m) TO BARAFU CAMP (4550m).Distance; about 6kms. Hiking Time; 3hrs. Breakfast then proceed with the hike and because you will alredy have reached at Karanga Valley camp you shall be left with a short distance towards Barafu Camp. Leaving Karanga Camp from those morning hours we shall pass a junction connecting with Mweka trails then continue up to Barafu Camp. Reaching Barafu Camp marks the end of trekking in the southern circuit and it offers a view of the peak from numerous angles. While preparing for the next trek towards the summit, we shall have dinner and overnight at this area particularly at Barafu Camp- FB.

- Day 6 - BARAFU CAMP (4550m) TO UHURU PEAK (5895m) TO MWEKA CAMP (310Distance; about 7kms ascent. Hiking Time; 8hrs to reach Uhuru peak and 8hrs to descend to Mweka. As per recommendations you will be woken up at around 11:30Pm and be served with tea and cookie. The activity that follows after is to trek towards the summit between the Rebman and Ratzel glaciers. While trekking to the summit the criteria says that ‘one step at a time and remember to keep your momentum moving forward.’ It takes 8hrs to reach the top of the crater rim with a sign for Stella Point. The point indicates that you still have another 156meters of altitude to walk around the Crater rim to Uhuru Peak. After reaching the summit of Kilimanjaro (5,895m), relax for some time while enjoying the view at the summit and gaining energy then start descending down to Mweka Camp. To avoid grueling on your joints, trekking poles will be needed to be used for loose scree heading down to Mweka Camp. Later in the evening we will enjoy dinner on the mountain and stay to night particularly at Mweka Camp- FB.

- Day 7 - MWEKA CAMP (3100m) TO MWEKA GATE (1980m) TO ARUSHADistance; about 15kms. Hiking Time; 4hrs. This is regarded as the final day of trekking on Machame Route. We shall descend to Mweka Gate after breakfast at the gate you will be awarded a summit certificate from the park headquarter and sign-out. After having the certificate, you will then be transferred to Arusha by car direct to the airport (JRO) for departure.
