This 3 Day Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi with Ekibungo Tours And Safaris, will take you Gorilla trekking in Bwindi impenetrable national park which covers an area of 321 sq km and is among the oldest forests lasting over 25,000 years. You will be able to trek one of the 12 habituated mountain gorilla groups. Besides the Gorillas, you will also have an opportunity to see other primates such as the red-tailed monkeys, chimpanzees, baboons, and black and white colobus monkeys among others. This forest is also home to 120 mammals, 51 reptiles, 310 butterfly species, 27 species of frogs, geckos, chameleons, 163 tree species, 104 fern species, 1000 flowering plants, as well as over 350 species of birds such as the hornbills and the Turacos! Gorilla trekking takes around 2 to 8 hours, which is worth it as those into hiking will have a great time climbing up and about the rolling hills, and going through the lush vegetation.

    Early Morning Arrive at Entebbe International Airport (or pick up from a hotel in Kampala if applicable).

    Meet your driver-guide and begin your journey to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. The drive takes approximately 8-10 hours, with scenic views of the Ugandan countryside and the terraced hillsides of the Kigezi region.

    En route, enjoy a packed lunch or stop at a local restaurant (depending on your schedule).


    Afternoon:

    Arrive at your lodge near Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.

    Check in, relax, and enjoy the beautiful surroundings.


    Evening:


    Briefing about the upcoming gorilla trekking experience.


    Optional: Participate in a community visit or enjoy a guided nature walk around the lodge.

  • Day 2 - Gorilla trekking



    Early Morning:


    Early breakfast at the lodge.


    Transfer to the park headquarters for a briefing by the park rangers.


    Receive your gorilla trekking permit and meet your trekking group.


    8:00 AM – Gorilla Trekking:


    Begin your trek into the dense rainforest of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.


    The trek can last from 1 to 6 hours, depending on the location of the gorillas. The guides will lead you through the forest and assist in tracking the gorillas.


    Spend up to 1 hour with the gorillas observing them and taking photographs.


    Lunch:


    Return to the park headquarters for a picnic lunch or back at your lodge (depending on the time).


    Afternoon:


    Relax and enjoy the lodge’s amenities after the trek.


    Optional: Take a village walk or visit local craft markets.


    Evening:


    Enjoy dinner and accommodation at the lodge.


    Optional: Attend a traditional dance performance or cultural presentation.

    Arrive in Entebbe or Kampala and transfer to the airport for your international flight or onward travel.


    Evening:


    Depending on your flight schedule, you may have time for a quick visit to the Entebbe Botanical Gardens or a final stroll around the city.

Getting There

From outside East Africa, Uganda can be easily accessed either by road or Air and mostly by Air to Entebbe International Airport (EBB). Water transport can also be used to travel in and around our destinations especially the ferry crossing from the Southern part of Murchison Falls National Park to the Northern part of Murchison Falls National Park. Flights to Uganda are cheapest during the rainy seasons from March to May and October to November. The best wildlife viewing months are June to September and December to February, when flights are likely to be more expensive.

  • Visas are best obtained in advance through an official online visa-application portal (https://visas.immigration.go.ug/), but they can also be obtained through your local Tanzania Embassy or High Commission.
  • Visas can also be obtained on arrival but this is a lengthy process that can take one to two hours.
