  • Day 1 - Transfer from Kigali to Volcanoes National Park

    Pick-up from your hotel or airport by a Simba African Expeditions driver/guide and travel northwards to Volcanoes National Park. It is a 3-hour drive through the lush highlands. Get to your accommodation at the edge of Volcanoes National Park, relax, enjoy the spectacular views of the mountain scenery, have meals, and rest for the night.

  • Day 2 - Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes National Park

    Have an early breakfast at 6.00 am, pick up a packed lunch, not leave behind drinking water (at least one liter) and a raincoat, and transfer to the park headquarters at Kinigi. You are allocated a ranger to brief you about the gorilla trekking expedition and allocate a gorilla family you shall trek. At 8.00 am, transfer to the start of the trek and move into the jungles to find the mountain gorillas. When you find the mountain gorillas, you are allowed not more than an hour to view and photograph the gorillas. Return at the start of the trek to meet your driver and transfer to the lodge. Relax, have dinner, and rest for the night.

  • Day 3 - Transfer back to Kigali, City Tour

    Have an early breakfast, check out of the lodge, and leave for Kigali. On arrival in Kigali, you will set out to do a tour of this vibrant city that is one of the fastest-growing cities in Africa. You shall visit the Genocide Memorial and the crafts markets. Lunch during the city tour. In the evening, you shall transfer to your accommodation or the airport for the end of the tour.

There are currently no direct flights from any North American city to Kigali. All require at least one stop, with most major cities, including New York, Toronto, Sao Paolo and Montreal only requiring one stop. Direct flights are available from Amsterdam and Brussels. There are also direct flights on Turkish Airlines, from Istanbul, and from Dubai on Rwanda Air. There are no direct flights from Doha and Qatar. Flights from major cities in Asia, such as Hong Kong and Singapore, also require one stop. Flights from Sydney, Australia presently require two stops.

Rwanda is quite tiny, and most people travel inside the country by car. Rwanda's speed limit is 60 kilometres per hour on all roads. Akagera Aviation, on the other hand, provides charter helicopter transfers to and from any place in the country.

  • For people visiting Rwanda in conjunction with Kenya and/or Uganda, it is possible to buy a joint visa for all three countries with advance application. See www.migration.gov.rw for details.
