Tour Features

Mount Meru is the second-highest mountain in Tanzania and the fifth-highest peak in Africa, located inside Arusha National Park. This trek is ideal for travelers seeking a rewarding climb with stunning scenery and wildlife encounters. Along the trail you will enjoy views of Arusha city, rich vegetation, and the beauty of the park. A major highlight is Meru’s dramatic horseshoe-shaped crater, formed when part of the ancient volcano collapsed. The trek to the summit takes 3 to 4 days depending on your pace. Hikers pass through different vegetation zones, starting with dry forest, then dense rainforest, followed by scrubland, and finally alpine terrain near the summit where vegetation disappears. Because the mountain lies within a national park, wildlife sightings are common. You may see antelopes, baboons, buffaloes, colobus monkeys, giraffes, and more in their natural habitat. For safety, all treks are accompanied by an armed park ranger. Departure Day: This can be your first or last day in Tanzania. If it is the final day, transfer to Kilimanjaro International Airport follows breakfast. If time allows, visit the Maasai market for souvenirs.
