  • Day 1 - Venture into the Heart of Volcanoes National Park

    Your guide will meet you at the airport or hotel, depending on your prior arrangements. Begin your day with a visit to the Kigali Genocide Memorial Center. Afterwards, enjoy a scenic 2.5-hour drive to Ruhengeri Town for lunch. Following lunch, check in to your lodge and then visit the Ellen DeGeneres Campus of the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund in Kinigi. Return to your lodge to relax and prepare for the exciting activities planned for the next day.

  • Day 2 - Golden Monkey Trekking in Rwanda and Travel to Uganda

    The day begins with an early breakfast before you set out for the park headquarters where you’ll receive an engaging briefing on the golden monkey trekking adventure ahead the essential dos and don’ts to make the most of your encounter. Soon, you’ll enter the lush forests in search of these playful, vibrant creatures, with your trek lasting anywhere from three to six hours depending on how much time you spend marveling at the wildlife around you.


    After bidding farewell to the golden monkeys, your journey continues toward the Rwanda-Uganda border town of Chanika, where you’ll complete the immigration process. From there, the adventure takes you into Uganda, through rolling landscapes, until you arrive at your lodge near the mystical Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, ready to relax and reflect on the day’s unforgettable encounters.

  • Day 3 - Gorilla Trekking Adventure in Bwindi Impenetrable National P

    After an early breakfast, you’ll head to the park headquarters for a briefing on gorilla trekking rules and etiquette. Then, your adventure begins, winding through the misty trails of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest in search of your assigned gorilla family. Treks can last anywhere from 3 to 8 hours, depending on the gorillas’ location, and require a moderate level of fitness. With only a few permits available each day, this rare encounter promises a truly unforgettable experience.

  • Day 4 - Journey to Kibale National Park

    The journey to Kibale National Park is a scenic adventure, winding through lush green landscapes and charming countryside roads. Lunch will be enjoyed en route, allowing you to soak in the views. You’ll arrive in the early evening, with the option to join some of the activities suggested by your guide to make the most of your first evening in this beautiful park.

  • Day 5 - Chimpanzee Tracking Adventure followed by Transfer to Entebb

    Your adventure concludes with a truly unforgettable morning an encounter with our closest relatives in the wild, the chimpanzees. Trekking through the forest for 3 to 5 hours, you’ll watch them swing, play, and interact in their natural habitat, creating memories that will stay with you forever. After this magical experience, you’ll journey to Entebbe International Airport or Kigali international airport enjoying a scenic drive.

Getting There

Kigali International Airport (KGL), on the outskirts of Kigali, would most likely be your point of entry point into the country. There are currently no direct flights from any North American city to Kigali. All require at least one stop, with most major cities, including New York, Toronto, Sao Paolo and Montreal only requiring one stop. Direct flights are available from Amsterdam and Brussels. There are also direct flights on Turkish Airlines, from Istanbul, and from Dubai on Rwanda Air. There are no direct flights from Doha and Qatar. Flights from major cities in Asia, such as Hong Kong and Singapore, also require one stop. Flights from Sydney, Australia presently require two stops.

Rwanda is quite tiny, and most people travel inside the country by car. Rwanda's speed limit is 60 kilometres per hour on all roads. Akagera Aviation, on the other hand, provides charter helicopter transfers to and from any place in the country.

  • When arriving from a yellow-fever-infected country in Africa or the Americas a yellow fever vaccination certificate is required.

  • For people visiting Rwanda in conjunction with Kenya and/or Uganda, it is possible to buy a joint visa for all three countries with advance application. See www.migration.gov.rw for details.
