Bushbaby Safaris Zululand

What began as a part time hobby to keep busy on my "off days" working remotely in the African bush slowly grew to become a passion of sharing my 27 years of working in wildlife conservation, forestry and anti-poaching. Having worked and travelled extensively through South Africa and all along the east coast from the Garden Route all the up to Kruger National Park, in 2001 I settled in northern KwaZulu-Natal, in a small rural town called KwaMbonambi and worked as a ranger along the coast until 2012 when I decided to turn my time to nature guiding and settled in Hluhluwe Village, a little further north. Sharing my wealth of bush experience with curious visitors to this uniques wildlife area of South Africa became my drive and passion and so "Bushbaby Safaris Zululand" was born. Having worked extensively in the area and very closely with all the private game lodges and private parks I have gotten to know the owners and staff personally. This has enhanced the relationship I now have with these accommodations and the activities they offer. Working for a number of years in the rural Zulu communities, getting to know the locals and the community leaders, I have gained deep insights in the local as well as general Zulu culture and history. The lifeblood of this area is the iconic Hluhluwe-iMfolozi Park. The genetic home of all white rhinos in the world today, a park steeped in history, both modern and of a bygone era. Once the royal hunting grounds of Zulu kings, this "Big 5" park is home to rich diversity of animal, plant and birdlife. A short drive down the road is the coastal village of St Lucia from which one can access the southern section of Hluhluwe-iMfolozi. St Lucia is the gateway to the extensive Isimangaliso Wetland Park. Stretching from Mapelane just south of the town, 220km up the coast to the border of Mozambique in the north. "Isimangaliso", translated from Zulu means "Miracle or Wonder" is South Africa's first declared World Heritage Site for nature. Isimangaliso which is home to 4 of the "Big 5" is truly a place of miracle and wonder, where else can you enjoy a great day at a pristine, unspoint beaches, but have to travel 30km through such a rich and diverse game park to get there and when you're done at the beach, have to endure another 30km+ of wildlife viewing on you way back to St Lucia? Bushbaby Safaris Zululand aims to bring you in touch with every aspect of your visit to this magical wildlife and cultural wonderland on a personal and meaningful level. I don't do extreme luxury that "divides" you from the people and place you are visiting! I prefer bringing people together where interacting with the locals on a day-to day level and experiencing life here as if you are a local, a part of everything! Not simply a transfer in and a transfer back out! I take great pride in creating an experience that brings you in touch with everyday life in magical Zululand, very close to nature and in touch with the people!
