Overview – Chizarira National Park

Situated in the northwestern space of Zimbabwe, Chizarira National Park is one of the most isolated national parks in Zimbabwe, It gets not many visitors to its wild, rugged scenes and is a spot to see the value in the serenity of the African shrub. Chizarira has four of the Big Five except for a rhino, yet animal densities aren't simply tremendous. The landscape is amazing for leopards, and there is a decent assortment of herbivores. Wildlife & Animals – Chizarira National Park

Chizarira National Park is home to four of the large five: buffalo, elephant, leopard and lion can still be spotted here. Tragically, the Black rhino was pursued to approach annihilation and the remaining creatures were migrated to ideally ensure their decreasing numbers. Other enormous animals can be viewed here, including the accompanying: cheetahs, hippos, warthogs, zebra and a few types of antelope. Chizarira has a large variety of bird life and hundreds of species have been sighted within the Park. Sought-after birds recorded include the African broadbill, Livingstone's flycatcher, western nicator, African emerald cuckoo and the rare and elusive African pitta. Chizarira is also home to the Taita falcon which breeds within the Park.

The Chizarira offers a great birding experience throughout the year. However, the best time to visit is during the wet season from November to April. It is also the time when migratory birds from Europe and northern Africa are available and a lot of birds can be seen in breeding plumage. The Dry season is best for wildlife viewing and occurs from June to October.
