Overview – Solio Game Reserve

Solio Ranch or Solio Game Reserve is a privately-owned wildlife conservancy situated in Kenya's Central Province. The ranch is a fenced, exclusive ensured region intended for rhino preservation. It has a significant influence on the security and breeding of black rhinos in Kenya. The little park is in a real sense brimming with rhinos and an assortment of other safari animals have been presented also.

Wildlife & Animals – Solio Game Reserve

The rhino is an individual from the 'Big Five Animals', which are a key tourist attraction in Solio Game Reserve; other wildlife incorporates the buffalo, zebra, giraffe and fields game like eland, oryx, impala, waterbuck, Thompson's gazelle and warthog. Predators like lions, cheetahs and leopards are either occupants or pass through routinely.

Wildlife Highlights

The area sold for resettlement contained various wildlife species including Lelwel hartebeest (an uncommon and interesting animal variety in the District), plains zebra, impala, Thomson's gazelle, oryx, and eland. White rhinos meander around the green fields. Although normally in little family gatherings of three to four individuals, herds up to 15 can be experienced here. Black rhinos, generally exceptionally timid, can be seen strolling nonchalantly in the open also. Sometimes the two species even hang out together in blended gatherings. 

Best Time for Wildlife Viewing

Wildlife viewing in Solio can be experienced all year round due to the little size of the closed reserve. Rainfall can meddle with your game drives, and your overall happiness regarding the climate, so the best and ideal time for visiting is from July to September and January to March. Solio Lodge is shut in November.

Birds – Solio Game Reserve

Around 350 bird species have been recorded in the Solio Game reserve with many north Kenya specials. There has been little exploration done on bird species and populaces nearby, so there may be more species present. Solio Ranch isn't actually set up as a birding objective, yet private game drives and guided walks can be organized.

Best Time for Bird Watching

Solio is a bird watcher's delight the entire year. The best time for birders is from November to April when the migrants from Europe and North Africa can be seen. This partly coincides with the Wet season, when many species in breeding plumage are nesting. Solio Lodge is closed in November.

Solio Game reserves offer good wildlife viewing throughout the year. However, the best time to visit is in the Dry season from June to September. The reserves close in November.
